What Is HeatShield?
HeatShield is a cerfractory chimney liner repair and resurfacing system that can be used to give new life to a damaged clay tile liner. The system is designed to be resistant to moisture damage and corrosion, and can stand up to temperatures over 2900 degrees F. When professionally applied, HeatShield carries a 20-year material warranty.
How Does It Work?
HeatShield works by filling in gaps and cracks in the tile liner, and providing a stronger, smoother surface. There are a couple of different applications for HeatShield – here’s a little bit about each:
- Joint Repair Application – When a tile liner has rather minor damage — like defective or deteriorating mortar joints — HeatShield can be used to fill, seal, and reinforce these areas. During this application, we simply apply the product where needed and smooth over the surface to ensure that the product fully penetrates and fills the cracks and joints.
- Resurfacing Application – When the majority of the tile liner is damaged but the structure is still sound, we can use HeatShield to resurface the entire flue liner. We begin by placing a custom-fitted foam applicator in the bottom of the chimney and using it to clean the surface of the flue and apply a primer. Next, we use the applicator to smooth the HeatShield cerfractory sealant to the entire surface of the flue.
